Big town, little christmas.

Before coming home for the holidays I was determined to set up my christmas tree, even though I new there were going to be no presents underneath it and I was just going to have to take it down by myself when I got back to school in january. I thought it would be perfect to do it while Michael was in town, and get some other christmas enthusiast to come help. As long as I provided wine and sweets I knew they would show.

Lucy is extremely particular about the placement of the ornaments, which Michael wasn't really able to pick up on. She did try to explain that similar decorations needed to be spaced around the tree, but I think Michael was just enjoying himself to much to really care. She did end up moving a lot of them around when he wasn't looking though.

The first picture also gives you a better idea of how tiny my apartment actually is. With my dresser right beside my desk with my (folded down) dining room table right in front.

The tree turned out really well in the end. I continued with last years colour pallet of silver, blue, black and white with a secondary theme of birds. The topper for the tree is a feather snowball that I made last year, with a bird's nest and sparkly blue feather/plant. It makes a huge mess and is to heavy to be supported by just one branch alone, but it adds to the theme. There are a couple things on there that really don't go with the theme at all, which Lucy insisted that we hide in the center of tree, or on the back which faces the street. It worked out well though, however it is kind of hard to tell since most of the decorations are white...

Next year I was thinking of doing a whole origami tree. It would be a little time consuming, but there are so many pretty papers that would look good as ornaments.
